The launch of Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) service will mark a new era of broadcasting development in Hong Kong and provide a novel experience for radio listeners. Three broadcasters, namely Metro Broadcast Corporation Limited, Phoenix U Radio Limited and Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited, have been granted sound broadcasting licences to provide round-the-clock DAB services. Together with Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), a total of 18 channels in digital format have either been launched, or will soon be launched, from late December to early 2012. The programme genres cover music, lifestyle, current affairs, finance, community news, art and culture, etc. Broadcast in different languages, these programmes offer high-quality entertainment and information services for the general public.
This dedicated website introduces the basics and benefits of DAB and provides guidelines and information to users for take-up of DAB services. Background information on the Government's policies and initiatives in DAB as well as reference materials for industry stakeholders are also included to facilitate better understanding of DAB development in Hong Kong.
